And a bucket at the top of a four-story fort drops 1,000 gallons of water every four minutes. ![]() ![]() Multiple high-speed slides, including the cackle-inducing Sequoia Splash, provide a variety of twists for every type of slider. Inside, where the temp is always 84 degrees, a massive pond creates waves that reach up to three feet in height. Mini golf, an arcade and the free candy that came with his Paw Pass kept him happy enough to don not one but both sets of wolf ears, the four furry points poking through his mess of blond curls. Now 11, he towered over most of the other children. We had kept ours from a visit to the Great Wolf Lodge in Garden Grove five years ago.īack then, my son was six, the optimal age for most of the resort’s activities, which include gold panning and a live-action game where wand-wielding kids become Master Magis. Families with babies, families with toddlers, families with teens and grandparents, all sporting their free wolf ears. The place was teeming with families who had the same idea. We arrived at the resort, a 50-minute drive from the East Bay, on a summery Sunday afternoon, hoping to bypass weekend crowds. (Courtesy Great Wolf Lodge)īut speaking for myself and parents I chatted up during our stay, when you and your kids are clutching your raft handles, twisting and turning as gallons of water splash you in the face and send you careening into a pool, noise and crowds don’t bother you as much as they normally would. Great Wolf Lodge has attracted Bay Area families since opening its first Northern California location in Manteca last year. And you might be waiting a little too long for that average-at-best food. The arcade and ropes course get so loud you can hear them from the lobby restaurant. It’s often crowded and absolutely crawling with kids. The resort itself, one of two California locations for the Illinois-based chain, is not without its drawbacks. Great Wolf Lodge, the Manteca resort that opened in 2021, offers a massive indoor water park unlike anything in Northern California. Soon, we’ll be perched on our in-pool chaise lounges, sipping watermelon frosés while our son indulges in free ice cream. As we shoot into a giant, striped saucer-style bowl, the raft careens up one side of the funnel and into the next with the momentum of a boat at rough sea. The Wolf Den Suite at Great Wolf Lodge includes a queen bed, an in-suite cave-themed sleeping area, as well as a living area with a full-size sofa sleeper, typically would cost up to $399.99 to book for the night and two days of waterpark access for four people. We’re racing down a gigantic raft water slide, when a sudden, steep drop elicits full-belly cackles from me - and piercing screams from my husband. Note: Bunk beds can accommodate guests up to 5.5 ft.įor an additional cost, you can order a birthday package which includes a cake and some decor put on the outside of the door! Wolf Den Suite Discounts I booked it thinking that when the kids go to bed, we can comfortably keep the lights on/watch tv without it being too bright but that wasn’t the case. I think the Great Wolf Lodge Manteca should invest in incurtains for the den door and window. It also doesn’t have a door so anyone trying to sleep with the bathroom light on (which it faces) will have a tough time. This location really needs to put microwaves in every room like the Great Wolf Lodge Garden Grove has.Īlthough there was a television in the main room, the little den with the bunk beds doesn’t have one. Around dinnertime, we ended up going to a different floor to heat up our food because there was a line for the microwave on our floor. The suite also had a mini fridge and hair dryer.Īt the Great Wolf Lodge Manteca, there are no microwaves in rooms but there is one located where the ice machine and vending machines are located on each floor. In addition to the smaller room with the bunkbeds, our room had a sleeper sofa and a table in the corner with chairs. As mentioned above the Wolf’s Den Suite houses up to 8 individuals. ![]()
